I have been the IT & Computer Department Head at MUST from 2007 to 2011. During this period, the Department has changed from a small, noncompetitive, unknown Department to a large, competitive, well-known one. Here is a part from my Valedictory Speech on July 14th 2011.

...
The day I came to MUST [in Sep 2007] :
  • The number of students in our Department was about 350;
  • There was only one program (Software Engineering); and IT Engineering program had just Begun;
  • The number of students who passed the Nation-wide MSc Entrance Exam was almost zero, though their BSc Entrance Exam's ranks were from 3000 to 8000 [out of about 300,000];
  • The student satisfaction index of our Department were 3.09 [out of 4];
  • MUST was only well-known for its Industrial Engineering Department; Comp & IT was not considered as a "Department"; No one cares about it.

Today [July 2011]:
  • The number of students has tripled (about 1050);
  • The department offers 5 programs now (Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, IT Engineering, Software Technology Engineering, and Hardware Technology Engineering);
  • The students of the department have ranked 1st, 8th, 17th, 64th, 96th, 114th, and 140th in the Nation-wide MSc Entrance Exam, though their Nation-wide BSc Entrance Exam's ranks were from 8000 to 18000;
  • The student satisfaction index has jumped to 3.6 [out of 4], a growth of about 0.5;
  • The IT & Computer department now forms half of MUST (in size and honor).
Guys! I've suffered as long as tens of years, deep in my heart till we reached where we are today. [sobbing]
