Amin Khodabandeh Amiri
History of MUST's IT & Computer Department (by Amin Khodabandeh Amiri):

MUST's Computer Department has established in 1999 with Software Engineering (B.Sc.). In 2006, Information Technology Enginnering (B.Sc.) has added to it and it became IT & Computer Department. In 2007, Hardware Engineering (B.Sc.) has added to it too. In 2008 IT Engineering (M.Sc.) has added to department as the first of it

Me and MUST:

I was appointed as MUST's IT and Computer department manager, informally, from 2007 to 2008 and till 2008 march, has been formal department manager of this department. Before me, Engineer Amiri (2005-6), Engineer Hashemian (2004-5) and Engineer Kiarazm (1999 to 2003) were department managers. Till 2007 I have the direction of the department (aligned with MUST's President, Dr. Shiekholeslami, and also Dr. Tajdin).

The average of Computer & IT department's evaluation (from students' viewpoints) shows a steady growth as below (from 20.00):

  • 2006-7 T01: 15.44
  • 2007-8 T01: 16.13
  • 2007-8 T02: 17.02
  • 2008-9 T01: 16.89
  • 2008-9 T02: 18.27

Major Threats and Opportunities:

  • Shortage of IT and Computer lecturers in the province of Mazandaran.
  • More students interested in studying IT and Computer.

Major Strength and weakness (with respect to our rivals):

  • We are the only non-government high educational center that have the name of university, for the outstanding activities took place in the university; others have the name 'high educational center'. This leads to attract smarter students.
  • We are the 1st non-government high educational center or university in Iran, ranked by Ministry of Science, Research & Technology.
  • MUST is the only non-government center, whom abroad universities all over the world (USA, Europe, Aisa) accept its students for graduation degrees (most of our students go abroad for graduation degrees).
  • Our major rivals are in Tehran (Elm o farhang), Isfahan (Sheikh Bahaee), and Mashad (Sajad) which are big cities with outstanding goverment-supported universities and you can find IT & Computer lecturers there, more easier than Babol.

What I do as a department manager :

  • I choose a representative for every (discipline - enterance year) to collect ideas about department, lecturers, students' problem, etc. Every month I have a session with them. One of the representative would be the secretary.
  • I have a public meeting with students 4 days a week (from Saturday to Tuesday) for 45 minutes.
  • My main role is a facilator and an orchestartor for lecturers, harmonizing them as an integrated package for students.
  • I have a session with top lecturers every month to discuss about department's problems and futures.
  • The above are my formal activities, but most of my activities are informal ... .
